“Advance!” That’s what Jesus had in mind when He said, “I will build My church and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it” (Matthew 16). Gates in the ancient world were the last line of defense, and Jesus said that the Church He’s building would advance beyond hell’s gates.

Our church has always been about advancing the gospel around the world, but we are primed to catapult that advancement forward in the coming years. We believe our church exists for “such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). God is blessing in extraordinary ways, and we want to steward those blessings for the glory of God and the advancement of His Kingdom throughout the world.

In Matthew 28:18-19, Jesus gave us our mission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Our church is all about making disciples of Jesus! And that’s why we’re building a new facility where countless adults will be discipled and sent out into our city and around the world.

This new two-story facility will be approximately 30,000 to 40,000 square feet and will house upwards of a few thousand adults every week who are seeking to follow Jesus within biblical community. If enough funds are raised, the building will include a large coffee shop that will be lined with thousands of my dad’s (Pastor Roger Spradlin) library books that my mom is giving to the church. In the coming weeks, we look forward to laying out details, such as where the building will go, what it will look like, exactly how big it will be, and what it will cost. We are also excited to share renderings of the building once they are complete!

Sometimes, we look at the darkness of this world, and we feel defeated. But we are finding that the light shines brightest in the darkness. The world truly is ripe for harvest, and we’re seeing that play out in our church. During the last ministry year, we saw 517 people go public with their faith in Christ by getting baptized. Now, we get to teach them how to follow Jesus!

So, let’s all give and sacrifice in order to advance the gospel in our city and around the world!

Small Hands
Big Change!

We have been so amazed and encouraged by how our Kids and Student Ministries have been giving sacrificially to support the Advance: Building to Send campaign. God bless these little hands that are giving to help advance the gospel in Bakersfield and around the world!
